Recall of The Blindside

I would recommend this book to anyone. This book is very sad but also very inspirational true story about the Raven's left tackle, Lawrence Taylor. It is also a New York Times bestseller and also a major motion picture.

If I could change one part of the story that I have read so far I would have to change the part about Michael no having a bed to sleep in and having him some place to go and sleep earlier in the book. I would change these part because if these parts were changed the story of Michael wouldn't be so bad and harsh from where he came from. Now in the story Leigh Anne begins to notice that Michael is becoming more involved, starts to want things, and begins to feel more into the family. And as Leigh Anne is noticing this the first thing Michael wants is his drivers licence. So Leigh Anne takes Michael to the department of motor vehicles to get his licence but Leigh Anne nor Michael have any legal identity of who is he. So Michael and Leigh Anne traveled long ways to get his paper work they tried the hospital, the department of transportation record (but they found his dads name in the system). But Michael's last name isn't Oher his social security card says his last name is under as Michael Jerome Williams and but then again his student I.D. says he is Michael Jerome Oher. But the DMV still needed a place of residence and they had to travel to Michael's mother for anything on a type of residence. So they meet Michael's mom and she takes them to the mailbox of hers and gives them some mail of hers so they can prove his residence. Then Michael and Leigh Anne speed back to the DMV and let Michael takes his test. He then passes his test and gets his drivers licence.

So far the story has told about Michael's life story as a child until where Michael is now. Michael has grown up in a small, poor part of town and has worked his way up to a rich Christain school. He starts out slow in the learning program but still begins to slowly learn the material for his grade. Leigh Anne a very rich woman with a son and daughter that enroll in Briarcrest finds Michael walking in the rain at night. Then Leigh Anne begins to tear up and tells her husband, Sean, to turn around. Leigh Anne takes Michael back to her home and ask Michael if he has a place to stay but he doesn't so Leigh Anne lets Michael sleep on the couch for a few days. After that Leigh Anne ask Michael if he has any other clothes and he says yes but at his mothers house. But as in earlier in the book his mother had been a drug addict and alcoholic. Michael had been taken away from her as a child. Then he finds that his mother wasn't home due to her apartment house being repossessed. So Leigh Anne takes Michael to buy him clothes to wear and has a very hard time finding clothes that would fit him. After this Leigh Anna makes room in her house for Michael to live and gives him his own room. Michael is surprise about this because in the book he says he has never had his own bed before. Then Michael begins to get good enough grades to play sports and he practices football with the school. Michael doesn't know much about football so the coaches try to explain to him how to do it but Michael doesn't listen to guys and/or yelling. Leigh Anne steps in and tells Michael what to do by telling him the football team was his family and he had to protect the quarter back like it was her, Leigh Anne. Then Michael listens and takes in Leigh Anne and he amazes the coaches at what he can do and how strong he his but also how fast he is for his size.

O.K. the setting of this story is based in a city around modern time. Most of the story so far has taken place in a school, Briarcrest Christain School. First Michael Oher lives in a poor part of time but then Big Tony, one of Michael's relatives, promised his mom he would get Michael a good Christian education. Then Michael is enrolled to go to Briarcrest and this is located in a good, rich part of the city. Michael isn't a very smart child and barely understands the material he's is required for in the tenth grade. But teachers had found a side of him that he really had understood the material and was able to get a barely passing grade for the semester. So Michael had started gaining momentum and learning the material require for him to play sports.

Today I will be talking about characters. There are two important character so far in the book, the first and most important one is Michael Oher (Ore). Michael Oher is a very large, built bot in high school. Michael is 6'4 240 pounds and runs a 4.5 in the 40 yard dash. The next is Tom Lemming, Lemming is a recruiter that travels the U.S. to find high school football players that he is interested in. Lemming finds Michael and sits and talks with Michael and talks football about him and the normal questions like, "where will you be in ten years," and, "what team would you like to play for?" But Michael ignored the invitation to play football for Lemming and Lemming was shocked he had never been declined before. But Michael is also a very shy person and never really talked much. This is the second chapter.

The Blind Side

I am blogging about the book The Blind Side. The reason I have chose to read this book is I have seen the movie and it was very good. Plus I had to for an English assignment. So far the first chapter is talking about football, mainly about Lawrence Taylor. First they tell about the times in football against other players that were a challenge to him. They explain of how big, tall, and agile he is. He is 6'4 240 pounds and runs a four-five in the forty yard dash. Now all the college recruiters want him but he normally skims over there invitation and throws them out. This is basically the first chapter.
